What’s in a name?
When I first started thinking about creating a website, I hit an unexpected roadblock: my last name. Or rather, which last name I should choose.
I know, it sounds simple — pick something pretty, right? But for me it wasn’t that easy. A name carries weight. It sets a tone before I even walk into the room. Do I want to come across as mysterious? Luxurious? Warm and approachable? All of the above?
At first, I considered just going by Oksana. Clean. Strong. Iconic, even. One name can say so much — Madonna, Cher, Beyoncé… you don’t need more than that. There’s power in simplicity. But then again, it also leaves people curious, like something’s missing.
Then came Oksana Liora. I was drawn to Liora because it means “my light.” There’s something poetic about that, and it reflects the way I try to carry myself: soft, radiant, and warm. Liora feels elegant, almost timeless, with a touch of mystery that I love.
And of course, there’s Oksana Amour. French for “love.” It’s bold, romantic, sensual — the kind of name that rolls off the tongue and lingers. It feels glamorous, like champagne at midnight or silk sheets in Paris.
So here I am, caught between three versions of myself. The minimalist, the romantic, and the luminous. Maybe the truth is, I’m all three at once.
At the end of the day, a name is just a word — but it’s also the first impression, the story before the story. And I want mine to feel like me.
So which one will I choose? Stay tuned…
